Mock Trial

The benefits of Howard High School's Mock Trial program extends beyond the reward of competing against one's peers or winning a round of competition. The impact of the program is measured by successfully attaining the following objectives:

  • to further understanding of court procedures and the legal system
  • to improve proficiency in basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and reasoning
  • to promote better communication and cooperation between the educational and legal communities
  • to provide a competitive event in an academic atmosphere
  • to promote cooperation among young people of various abilities and interests.

Participants need to be prepared for the agony of defeat was well as how to win with class. Hurt feelings, anger, and frustration are not the objectives of the mock trials. Remember to lighten-up and have a good time, regardless of the competition's outcome!
