“Never could have made it without you.” Those are the opening words to a song by Marvin Sapp, one of my favorite songs, and I cannot think of a more appropriate way to begin this message to you than with those words because, you see, it’s May 2022 – the last month of our school year. Congratulations on a very successful year and know we never could have made it to this point without all of you!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I have said before that there are two groups of people in a school district – those who teach and those who support those who teach. This week we’re celebrating those who teach. Teachers, thank you for all you have done. Thank you for what you continue to do. Please know the Board members, the district, and I fully appreciate everything you do to help make our school district better, every day.
I also want to thank our Board of Education for approving the supplement payments that went out this week in honor of Teacher Appreciation. It’s easy to say we appreciate you. Sometimes it’s better to see what is being done to demonstrate that as well, and I do believe our Board of Education and our school district are demonstrating how much we really do value you and thank you for all the work that you do.
As we get ready to close the school year, I’m going to ask that we kick it into high gear. The last day of school, for many students, is the best day of school. So let’s make that an experience that they will fully appreciate. Let’s make it one that they will remember. Let’s make it meaningful, just as we’ve made this entire school year meaningful as well. As you know, the Georgia Milestones are back. End of course testing is back. This year counts and the best way we can show our students how much we value them is by making every day the best day possible for them.
I want to thank you for the support that you have given me as we have moved through the school year. You’ve been amazing and I’m very thankful.
